Calculus III with Applications to the Sciences

Course Title

Calculus III with Applications to the Sciences

Description

Presents the core topics of Multivariable Calculus (MATH 032 PO) in the context of problems from the sciences. Topics include: vector fields, limits and continuity, differentiability, linearization, linear systems theory, multiple integrals, line integrals and Green's Theorem. Applications include models of species interaction in ecosystems, the spread of diseases, mutations and chemical networks. Provides an excellent background for students who intend to go on to MATH 102 PO as well as for students taking a mathematical modeling course (e.g. MATH 183 PO) or a course on dynamical systems (e.g. MATH 112 PO). Prerequisites: MATH 031 PO or evidence of having completed an equivalent calculus II course.
